New opportunity for high school students and recent graduates in Mono and Inyo Counties: The Outdoor Career Mini-Academy, a free 4-day program focused on careers in wildland fire, forestry, and outdoor recreation. The academy runs August 10–13, 2026 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Wind Drift Studios in Mammoth Lakes. Each day is dedicated to one sector, with the final day covering Leave No Trace principles and outdoor safety. Participants will learn alongside local professionals through hands-on activities both on-site and at nearby outdoor locations.

Summer is calling—and the pool is open! Make a splash at Bishop Park Pool this season with lap swim, public swim, water aerobics, and more. Whether you're diving in for fitness or fun, there’s something for everyone! Season runs June 6 – August 9, Closed Mondays. Grab your friends, bring the family, and cool off all summer long!

Lone Pine Memorial Plunge now open starting Tuesday, June 9. Public Swim is open Tuesday through Saturday from 1pm - 5pm. Pool fees are $1 each for children and adults. Pool location is across from 301 S. Hay Street in Lone Pine.

Inyo County Free Library's Summer Reading Program is "Plant a Seed, Read." Rooted in the concept of farm-to-table, a farm grows food that nourishes our bodies and a library grows ideas that nourish our minds. Both food and stories connect us to our family, culture, economy, and ecology. iREAD 2026: Plant a Seed, Read will provide a context for exploring culture, history, science, health, and human connection. Summer reading programs with stories and crafts will be held at the Big Pine, Bishop, Independence, and Lone Pine branches of the Inyo County Free Library.

The long wait is finally over— an epic construction project has been completed, and the County of Inyo has cleared our pool for swimming! We invite the community of Independence to OVUSD’s Grand Reopening of our pool! Normal hours are Wednesday to Sunday, Public Swim 12pm - 6pm. Cost is $1 per child (ages 3 - 18) and $3 per adult.

The Bishop Paiute Tribe Community Development Department supports full-time students with student housing assistance for the 26-27 school year. Applications are accepted July 1 - August 3, 2026.
